Macrame Planter

What could be better than succulents and hanging planters?! This D.I.Y. includes both, and SO well. Better yet, it hardly requires any maintenance. This chic decor will spice up your room or workspace in an instant...and for CHEAP!

I have loved the look of these hanging planters forever! They usually contain really leafy vine-like plants, but I figured this succulent would be a far easier plant to maintain. Although you can make extremely detailed planters, I opted for a simpler style.

This entire D.I.Y. was only $6. The terracotta pot was $1 at Michaels, the succulent was $5 from Trader Joes, and I already had the twin in my crafting bin! Instead of using a metal ring to hang the planter, I saved myself a trip to the store and simply tied an extra loop with twine.

Let's Make It

  1. Cut 9 pieces of 8ft twine.

  2. Fold loops in half and wrap through a metal ring

  3. Make 3 braids about a foot long

  4. Tie a knot at the end of each braid

  5. Divide the pieces of twine in the knots, combining the ends of the braids

  6. Tie a knot at the end of these 3 groups of twine

  7. Divide the pieces of twine again, combining the ends of the knots

  8. Knot these three groups

  9. Knot all of the pieces of twine

To finish the look off, I wrapped twine over the top of the braids, which really transformed the look.

There are many videos available to create different design as well.

Good luck and happy planting!
